Frogger

30 June 2008

I’m not sure why so many people are eager to engage in a real-life game of Frogger while crossing the streets of Sydney’s CBD. I walk back and forth across the city quite regularly, and I’m certainly not so eager to throw myself under an oncoming truck.

There certainly seem to be a lot of people wandering out into the middle of four or six lanes of traffic only to find that they have to stand up very straight on the line in the middle of the road to wait for vehicles on either side to pass. I wonder what the statistics are on pedestrian accidents. Do you think they’re going up or down?

Since I started running every day, I have found the traffic-weaving thing quite exhilirating. But that is nowhere near as good as real-life Donkey Kong.

Funnily enough, we were just talking the other day at work how it would be an interesting game to try walking up the stairs while someone threw barrels down at you.

There could be a market for real-life video games!
